“She was stronger alone, and her own good sense so well supported her, that her firmness was as unshaken, her appearance of cheerfulness as invariable, as with regrets so poignant and so fresh, it was possible for them to be.”
(Jane Austen - Sense and Sensibility , Chapter 23)
Sense and Sensibility was Jane Austen's first published novel, and although initially published as being written by "A Lady", it was the gateway to her success as an author. Marianne and Elinor Dashwood, though very close sisters, are poles apart in opinion on matters of the heart! As Marianne is all sensibility, she is an outspoken, emotional girl full of passions and spirit with her heart on her sleeve for the whole world to see. Being all sense; Elinor keeps her emotional distress and confusion bottled inside believing that complaining aloud would be to no one's benefit. In my interpretation of her, I chose soft mauves and greys to display her quiet dignity and self control in keeping her emotions in check.
This installment of Jane Austen's Heroines Sock Club comes with one 100-gram skein and one 20-gram skein of sock yarn on your choice of Voyager or Voyager Twist base.
Each skein is hand-dyed with care in my smoke-free, cat-friendly home. High quality acid dyes are properly set before washing and rinsing twice to assure the color adheres correctly, however some bright or extreme colors may bleed slightly in the first wash.To avoid this I recommend using room-temperature water and hand-wash the first time.Due to the artistic process involved; each skein is a unique work of art and allow for small variations.
We have made every effort to display as accurately as possible the colors & images of our products. We cannot guarantee that your device's display of any color will be accurate. Props and books used in photos are not included.
