When I first began my year-long collection of colorway interpretations of Claude Monet paintings, I never dreamed how successful and well-loved the collection would become. There were many ups and downs in the creation of those colorways, but ultimately I have never had as much creative fun as the challenge of interpreting paintings into fiber art. Having learned how to introduce a collection such as this in a more self-sustainable fashion going forward, I have now decided to run a second year of the Monet collection!
This go around I will be capping preorders at a much more reasonable rate for myself considering my current equipment constraints and work-life balance. The colorways will be shown before listings become available and I will have four major release updates a year, each consisting of three colorways in a “season”. Removing the mystery aspect, subscription component and unlimited production numbers will take away much of the stress that I faced in the first year of the collection and give me the space to experiment with the colors in a way that is more conducive to my creative process.
Some of you may notice that all 12 of the paintings I chose for this year are a part of the Metropolitan of Art’s collection. I regularly visit The Met here in NYC when I can, and I wanted to incorporate a bit of that nostalgia into this part of the colorway collection. I am excited to see what the year brings and hope that everyone who supports my work will enjoy the new colorways soon to come.
